Tutorial

After my first tutorial with Rick Clapham. After many a minute talking, we decided on a few possible paths in which i can take/ use to progress with my work.

Films:

'Silent Hill' and 'Triangle' are 2 good films which show the idea of shattered hope, hope that has been built up throughout the film but subsequently falls at the last hurdle. This is something which i want to show within my own piece.

'I am Legend' is a good example of regrowth within a city after it has been abandoned. The use of plant life and degeneration within the city are good examples for my research.

'The Matrix' trilogy can be used when looking at how i want my sky to look within the animation. The use of different colours used for the sky would be good as it would show that something is wrong, that this disaster isn't just localised. The use of rolling clouds is something i've been interested in using for a while now.

What else did we talk about?

As i want 'Hope' to be present within my animation, i need to be able to make it less of a cliche. I should be clever, smart and steer clear of the cliche, make it more interesting and more of a mystery. Something which wont be expected.

My animation can have many seperate looks, it depends on how long after the incident i want it to be set. So, how long after the incident should it be?

What fears are there about the apocalypse, as well as fears of post-apocalypse. Is this different within different cultures?

When listening to the song, i should listen out for pauses and how the music makes me feel at different points. Does the music suggest a pause, movement or even action. This is something which i will have to listen out for, make notes during playback and translate it onto a timeline. The music can also help with revelations within the animation. The piece shouldn't just run through, it should tell a story and the revelations should affect the audience, either emotionally or mentally. This would make my piece stronger and more professional.

What movement would be within my created world?

The world which i want to create should have both foreground and background animation which, in turn, would mean that my animation would develop into a more professional looking piece.
Things that will move within my world:
Wind generators/ mills, Rubble, Fire, Water, Doors (unlocked or unhinged), Oil Dwellers?
